Hello- I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this (if so feel free to move) but I just contacted Live Support for an issue and was surprised when I was asked to verify my account. I never had to provide any information other than my username in the past and was wary of providing any unnecessary information. For reference, I was asked first and last name on my account, billing code, last 4 digits of a credit card (if one was ever on file), and then username and email.

Is this something that is a new feature for Live Support?

Thank you for reaching out to us here in the forums, this is a standard practice for us to ask the customer to verify their account so that we can make sure we are speaking to the account holder. Every customer is asked to verify their account when they make contact with us. I hope this clears up any confusion about verifying your account when you contact us. This is not a new feature and has been the normal protocol for many years now. Thank you. - CP

Maybe I didn't read that right, but I've used "Live Support" chat many times, and I've never hat to give anything but my user name and i usually give the screen name I'm chattin' about to make sure they get the right issue. Only time I've had to give account information other than that is if i call Support about a billin' issue etc..

That's been my experience as well, which is why I was a bit concerned when asked to verify all of that information..

ive been asked that info for the past few months in live support seems to be standard operating procedure now
