toppgun go to the News & Announcements forum. There, VS's Brad tells us disabling the whisper feature is a two week trial. Go to that thread and add your voice to the debate. Apparently the 2011 year end survey produced a negative whisper campaign. The debate is fully engaged on both sides of the issue now.
Whispering is still a feature in multi-user shows.

On the surface they say its a 2 week trial; however, if you look at the tone of Brad's responses, or if you listen to what the models say they're being told when they try to make any suggestions, you will see the decision has already been made. This "trial" is simply a way to make it sound like we have a voice, which of course we don't. The debate was over long before anything was even posted.

Business's do listen to the majority of what customers want or don't want so i think it is important to show our support of wanting the whisper function. Hope many will make positive comments on it. :thumbsup

...I have never whispered, don't really see the need for it. That's just me, I am not opposed to whispering just the over use of whispering. That is up to the model to control in his/her room.

Phil i rarely use the whisper function...just i find it very valuable when i want to excuse myself from a room without interfering with a possible pvt in the making. Again i agree the model will control the use of whispering in his room. :smoking

Kheldar - I have stuck my neck out at post #142 in the News and Announcements topic by saying that I am sure VS will listen to any reasonable arguments for keeping the whisper function. I have listed there what I think are the reasons why whispering should stay.

Unfortunately many of the responses were on the lines of "If I can't whisper then I'm off", "VS have got it totally wrong" and "VS are using this to make more people go private". That could explain Brad's tone, and might not be the best way to persuade VS to provide the right solution.

I'm less optimistic when you say that models are being discouraged from making suggestions.

btw You said in the NA topic that removing whispering was just part of a trend where you felt the site was moving in the wrong direction. I assumed that the recent introduction of 5 and 10 tips was another change which you didn't like, and I can understand why

Almost ever post from Brad is in the defense of removing whispers. It's not a scientific test when the person conducting it has already made up their mind on how it should end up. While I am totally indifferent to what happens to whispers, I am irked over how its being handled, and the tone of the message being delivered to those who disagree.

I would point out that the test period selected coincides with a major holiday & sales period, which means the results will be totally skewed. Its like doing a survey about sales numbers from Dec 19th to Dec 26h and then extrapolating it to the whole year.

Also how do you measure the effect? If you just go with the increase/decrease in the number of chat messages, you are looking at the wrong thing. For example, imagine a shy users who asks the model if they can tickle them with a feather duster. 10 users jump all over the user and make fun of him. He leaves. Well, that is in increase in the message count and a decrease in revenue. Increase in chat message traffic doesn't necessarily translate to increased sales.

As for the off-topic stuff, it is just way too off-topic for this thread.

Interesting reply, Kheldar........

I don't know if you noticed 2 new topics about this subject in the GD forum. In one of those a member saw a reply from Titus and (naively, I think) referred to his response as "pure bullshit". I don't think the Head of Customer Services will have liked that too much, and he has an important role to play in this very contentious issue.

I made a point there of giving a quick plug to my 5 reasons why we should keep the whisper option. I hope that Titus will have seen it, but with 160 posts in just 3 days it is hard to keep up with all the comments. I think the topic is breaking all records. How can any organisation ignore that level of response?

I totally agree with your point about VS compiling statistics which can prove whatever they want to prove (as others do). I could write a book about useless performance measures. Much better to take on board the views of loyal members and top models. :bulb

I am simply interested in the return of whispering. I appreciate the opportunity to inform the model of something that I feel is & should be private. I am aware there r those who misuse the intent of whispering but that is the responsibility of the model to supervise their own room , not "Big Brother" The idea of paying for the right to express myself is disquieting to sav the least. I pay enough to see the model in private, I resent that now I have to pay to talk to the model
