Actually, public education in the U.S. predates Marx. By 1791, seven states had provisions for public education as a part of their individual constitutions. Marx was born in 1818.
Apples and oranges BF, I'm talking federal level and you introduce the states. The states are granted the right to do as they see fit for that individual state. I mentioned the "U.S." Constitution. This document gives all rights not mentioned within it to the states. Our Civil War was about states rights v. federal rights. It wasn't till Carter's administration that we had a Federal Dept. of Education. Marx's birth fits well within that timeline.
In any event, how does that prove the direct redistribution of credits among models is a legitimate comparison to socialism when the income earned from those credits is taxed? A direct redistribution of wealth on the part of a private company is more in line with Leninism and Maoism (but more like traditional fascism) than it is with Marxism or main-line socialism.
I'm really trying to not focus on the nature of different political ideologies. I'm just wondering how your theoretical scenario involving the direct redistribution of the wealth of its sub-contractors on the part of a business is comparable to socialism when the models on this site DO pay taxes on their income. Isn't the question of one's support for higher taxes a much better and direct way to confront someone's view on socialism? Remember, all income earned, even from cam sites (models are independent contractors and file as such), is taxed in the U.S.
I'll give you the argument for supporting higher taxes is a better approach but when company's are taxed higher they don't simply eat the extra burden they pass that onto their employee base which means it comes out of the employees' incomes. The example sited was just that an analogy, of a hierarchial system, the target being, those earning more pay for those who don't. In our society those earning more do pay more. Of course models' incomes are taxed but some 40% of this country's citizens aren't taxed and the top percentage are taxed more than their share. I think the analogy was posed to find out how far this individual would want socialism to encroach on their livelihood.
...And there's always the possibility that the model you mentioned was just messing with you because they don't like you or maybe they were just bored. Anyway, best of luck in finding someone else out there to chat with.
Awh, now Bryan I thought we were having a discussion. Why suggest I can't find anyone to chat with? I visited this performers room once and personally didn't agree with their ideologies but they are free to have them. We're all free to have our own. I never said I posed the example sited to the model. There are others who share my views. I did take in what was said however. The discourse seemed cordial, no messing, dislike or boredom was evident.
